A full moon meditation overlooking the beach at Pranamar Oceanfront Villas and Yoga Retreat will bring you closer with Nature, a sense of community, and more importantly, a sense of self-awareness.

The moon follows an elliptical path around the Earth, closer or farther away from us as it follows its path.  The ocean’s tides are affected by the sun and moon’s gravitational pull.  The moon has long been attributed with affecting human behavior, for the better or worse, especially the full moon.  Part of this belief stems from the fact that humans are made of water and that an abundance of positive ions may be present during a full moon.  Whatever the explanation, meditating during a moonlit night on the beach can only be a positive experience.

Pranamar Oceanfront Villas and Yoga Retreat offers full moon meditations at their Yoga Shala.  The goal of these sessions is to attain balance, clarity and peace through guided meditations. “Full moon flow; the dance of the divine feminine, awakening the creative juices and honoring the artist and nurturer within us all.  To access the power of the moon we must embrace all that is mysterious, unknown and in-flux.”  This is how Nancy Goodfellow, your hostess and yoga instructor at Pranamar Oceanfront Villas and Yoga Retreat describes the experience.

The moon has always held a mystical place in the history of mankind. Several ancient festivals revolve around the moon’s cycle.  One is the mid-autumn harvest festival celebrated by the Chinese and Vietnamese.  It celebrates gathering, not only of crops but of family and friends as well as gratitude and prayer. In Wicca, a contemporary pagan religious movement, hold meetings to celebrate the full moon, known as Esbats.  Loosely translated, Esbat means to: “Frolic joyfully”.  During the “Drawing of the Moon” ceremony, the Goddess, symbolized by the moon, is invoked and called to speak through the body if the High Priestess.

The full moon is a time to stay calm and positive, as whatever happens during this time is magnified, multiplied in a sense.  Imagine and manifest your goals and dreams, write them down, focus on them.  Meditation in a group setting can be very powerful, so think of those in need.  Send healing thoughts to a sick friend, forgive a former lover, or emanate feelings of peace for this strife-ridden world.
