2017 was a big year at Hotel Hacienda Guachipelin in Costa Rica. New additions, added tours, anniversaries and big events; and through it all guests gave high praise to the eco-adventure hotel in Guanacaste.
The hotel started off 2017 with new rooms and improvements on its 137-year-old Guanacaste ranch next to the Rincon de la Vieja Volcano. To keep up with the demand of tourists who love to visit the Rincon de la Vieja National Park, Hacienda Guachipelin introduced 13 new guest rooms called Legacy Suites – increasing the total room offering to 77.
One of the favorite things to do at Hacienda Guachipelin is visit the beautiful Oropendula Waterfall in the Blanco River canyon by the Las Pailas entrance of the Rincon de la Vieja National Park. At the beginning of the year, the hotel improved the trail down to the waterfall and built a secure hanging bridge that spans the river to a spacious observation deck where visitors have close-up views of the 82-foot (25-meter) waterfall. The deck also provides ladder access to the waterfall pool for swimming.
The North Face Endurance Challenge Costa Rica returned this year for the fifth time to Hotel Hacienda Guachipelin. Hundreds of runners from all over the world were on the ranch in June competing in the intense ultra-trail running endurance race sponsored by The North Face.
Hacienda Guachipelin added a new mountain biking tour at Rincon de la Vieja Volcano in the middle of the year that uses electric mountain bikes. The state-of-the-art, French, electric power-assisted mountain bikes open up Guanacaste mountain biking tours to everyone regardless of ability.
Also in 2017, Hotel Hacienda Guachipelin celebrated its 10-year anniversary as a member of the prestigious hotel group of Enchanting Hotels Costa Rica.
